Honestly what I hate about shadowlands is how unconnected every zone is. You can look at the background of the Legion Argus zones and there are entire continents just floating in space - use some of that! We barely even got to explore that planet in Legion and it's already out of the story! I'd have been fine if Broken Isles was that expansion, and gradually expanding into Argus as the Legion expansion. It did not need to be alternate universe Gul'dan. They could have just let Gul'dan Prime escape and summon the Legion. WoD's entire campaign was a prelude to the Legion campaign, and it was stupid that they went multiverse. And they still could have accomplished their primary goal of the expansion, which was allowing Gul'dan to escape and summon the Legion. They could have easily just have gone with "Garrosh goes back in time and arms the original Orcish Horde, making them much more of a threat than they originally were." It could have been an expansion about preserving the timeline. Time Travel and the Infinite Dragonflight are already a thing and at the time of WoD were already a well established part of Warcraft lore. There's no good reason why they needed to place the story in Alt-Draenor, in a parallel universe, rather than just putting it in OUR universe. My only complaint regarding WoD day 1 was the fact that they needlessly went multiverse with it. But the out-of-box day 1 content was pretty incredible. It obviously suffered from a lack of content over the long term. Draenor had some of the best narrative content.
